Fjord water body. The beach extends approximately 100 metres. The seabed consists of sand and seaweed forest. Water is generally shallow. The dominant current direction is west to east.

Location

The bathing water is located at Sølager Strand Camping in Halsnæs Kommune, accessible via Kulhusvej. Parking is available at a small car park on Kulhusvej, which features an information board.

Facilities

Sandy beach. No swimming platform. No lifeguard. No disabled access facilities. Parking available at Kulhusvej car park. Campsite available.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good (based on 20 samples from 2018–2021). Historical classifications show mostly Good or Excellent ratings from 2001 onwards, with some Doubtful classifications in 2009 and 2010. Exceedances are attributed to discharge from unsewered hinterland areas where infiltration systems are suboptimal during heavy rainfall or where some properties discharge wastewater directly into local ditches.

Risks

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms can occur and may produce toxins causing headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea and diarrhoea. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) present at the shoreline; decomposing seaweed can release toxins and harbour disease-causing bacteria. Phytoplankton growth risk is considered small. Short-term pollution from heavy rainfall may occur. Littered waste, glass fragments, dead animals and oil spills can occasionally occur.
