Lille Kregme is a bathing water site located at Gærdesangervej in Halsnæs Kommune, Denmark. The beach features a narrow sandy shore with scattered larger stones and sparse stonework defenses. A fine staircase leads down to the beach. The fjord at the beach is generally shallow with a sandy bottom. The water is classified as excellent quality based on 16 samples from 2018–2021.

Fjord water body. Generally shallow near the beach with a sandy bottom. Current direction is predominantly north–south, aligned with the dominant wind direction.

Location

Lille Kregme, accessed via Gærdesangervej in Halsnæs Kommune. Access is provided by a pathway with stairs and an information board. General vehicle access is poor and there is no parking area available.

Facilities

Information board present. No lifeguard. No toilets. No showers. No disabled access. No parking. No public transport access. No bathing platform.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring from 2018–2021. Historical classifications show the site has been classified as either excellent or good quality since 2001, never worse than good. Low concentrations of coliform bacteria have been detected in tested samples with no identified health risk. Heavy rainfall shows poor correlation with water quality deterioration over the past five years.

Risks

Cyanobacterial blooms can occasionally occur, causing headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhoea upon contact or ingestion. Children and immunocompromised persons are particularly vulnerable. Dogs may die if they drink the water. Macroalgae (seaweed) such as eelgrass is normally deposited on shore; decaying seaweed can release toxins and protect disease-causing bacteria from UV radiation. Risk of short-term pollution is very low and cannot be predicted in advance. Discarded waste, broken glass, dead animals, and oil spills may occasionally occur.
