The beach area covers 1.319 square kilometers and is classified as excellent for bathing quality based on monitoring data from 2017–2020. No wastewater treatment plant discharges or river outflows directly affect this bathing area, and no short-term pollution events have been recorded in the last four years.

Transitional water body (lagoon). Area: 1.319 square kilometers. The water body is the Lesina Lagoon, specifically the section from the Lauro River mouth to the Schiapparo mouth and the eastern shore.

Location

San Nicandro Garganico, Foggia Province, Puglia Region, Italy. The bathing area extends from the Lauro River mouth to the Schiapparo mouth along the eastern shore of the Lesina Lagoon.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent (2017–2020). No wastewater discharges or river outflows that could carry pollutants are present in the bathing area. No short-term pollution events were recorded in the last four years. No anomalous situations have occurred.

Risks

The bathing area is not characterized by cyanobacteria blooms. No cases of potentially toxic algal proliferation have been detected. No previous events of macroalgal, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation have been reported in the last four years.
