A sandy beach bathing water area located at the mouth of the Lauro River, 30 meters to the right. The site is classified as a transitional water body within the Lesina Lagoon system in the Foggia Province of Puglia. The water quality has been classified as good based on monitoring data from 2017 to 2020.

Location

San Nicandro Garganico, Foggia Province, Puglia region. The bathing area covers 0.934 square kilometers at the mouth of the Lauro River canal.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good (2017–2020). No direct wastewater discharges to sea are present in the area.

Risks

Potential pollution source identified at the mouth of the Lauro Canal on the western boundary. During intense precipitation, increased water flow from canals could transport wastewater to sea. No algal or cyanobacterial blooms have been detected. No cases of potentially toxic algal species proliferation have been recorded in the past four years.
