A pebble beach located at kilometre 425 near Villa Fumosa in Pineto, Abruzzo. The beach composition is exclusively pebbly due to deposits from the nearby Vomano river. The beach extends 20 metres in width and covers an area of 1.3 square kilometres. The water body is classified as coastal, with medium stability characteristics.

Location

Pineto, Teramo province, Abruzzo region. The beach is located in correspondence with kilometre 425 near Villa Fumosa. Services are available through the Helipolis and Pineto Beach campsites.

Services available through Helipolis and Pineto Beach campsites. Animals are permitted in accordance with regional law L.R. 19 of 17/04/2014.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The Vomano river is identified as a potential impact source. Wastewater treatment is managed through a treatment plant located in the Piane Vomano area, operated by Ruzzo Servizi S.p.A. for ATO n. 5 'Teramano'. No industrial or urban discharge is present near the beach.

Risks

The Vomano river is identified as a potential pollution source. No cyanobacterial blooms have been recorded in the waters of the Abruzzo coast. Occasional algal blooms of dinoflagellates with low or absent toxic species have been recorded in past years during summer, but no events of macroalgae or phytoplankton proliferation have occurred.
