Klintholm Øst is a 750-metre-long beach located east of Klintholm Harbour on the southeastern part of Møn, near Møn Klint, with views towards Hjelm Bay in the Baltic Sea. The beach consists of fine sand with scattered small stones and is up to 30 metres wide. The seabed offshore is also fine sand with water depth gradually increasing to less than 2 metres at 130 metres from the shore, making it child-friendly. The surrounding area is characterized by dunes.

Water

Brackish water in Hjelm Bay, Baltic Sea. The beach is 750 metres long and up to 30 metres wide. The seabed is fine sand. Water depth is less than 2 metres at 130 metres from the shore.

Location

The beach is located east of Klintholm Harbour on the southeastern part of Møn, near Møn Klint. Access is via Klintholm Havnevej and Thyravej, where parking is available near a restaurant.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good. Classification is based on routine sampling conducted between 2007-2010, with analysis of E. coli and enterococcus bacteria. The classification meets required standards and is revised annually before the bathing season.

Risks

Low risk of blue-green algae blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of large macroalgae accumulation in the shoreline. Low risk of chemical contamination such as oil spills. Glass shards and litter may occasionally be present. A stormwater outlet exists in the harbour but does not influence water quality within the defined beach boundaries. Sudden contamination from boat accidents, manure tanks, or sewage lines is possible but not currently identified.
