Råbylille Strand is a 300-meter-long beach on the southern side of Møn, facing Hjelm Bay in the Baltic Sea. The beach consists of fine sand with scattered small and medium-sized stones, backed by a summer house area. The seabed extends gradually with water depth under 2 meters extending approximately 160 meters from shore, making it child-friendly. The beach is marked with a blue line and is designated for supervised bathing during the official season.

Water

Brackish water in Hjelm Bay, Baltic Sea. The beach is 300 meters long and 10–15 meters wide. Water depth under 2 meters extends approximately 160 meters offshore. Current direction is variable, predominantly from the west and southwest based on 52 measurements between 2006–2010.

Location

Råbylille Strand is located on Møn's south side in Hjelm Bay. Access is via Bundgarnet road leading to a parking area with toilet facilities near the beach. The beach is in Vordingborg Kommune.

Water Quality

Bathing water classification: Excellent. Classification meets required standards and is based on routine monitoring samples from 2007–2010 for indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci). Monitoring occurs during the official bathing season (1 June – 1 September). Classification is revised annually before the season begins.

Risks

Three streams discharge fecal bacteria upstream: Hovgårdsløbet (1,300 meters west), Holmemoseløbet (550 meters west), and Råbylille Kanal (1,500 meters east). Råbylille Strand treatment plant discharges treated wastewater into Råbylille Kanal. Within the designated beach area, these sources have low influence. Risk of cyanobacterial blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low. Risk of macroalgae washup is low. Risk of chemical pollution is very low. Glass fragments and litter may occur. Sudden pollution from boat accidents, slurry tanks, and sewer lines is possible.
