Kollund Badestrand

Kollund Strand is a sandy beach approximately 400 metres long with varying width of 5 to 12 metres, located on the northern side of Flensborg Fjord. The beach has small stones and gravel in the water's edge zone, with water depth under 5 metres extending approximately 100 metres from the shore. The beach is backed by rosehip bushes and grass areas.

Water

Coastal water body in Flensborg Fjord. The beach extends approximately 400 metres with varying width of 5 to 12 metres. Water depth is under 5 metres within approximately 100 metres from the shoreline. The seabed consists of small stones and gravel in the first metres from the water's edge.

Location

Located on the northern side of Flensborg Fjord at the eastern part of Kollund town. Parking is available at the beach. The beach is near Julemærkehjemmet, Kollund town, and Frigård Camping.

Facilities

Information and warning board, toilet building, rescue post, first aid post, parking area.

Season

1 June to 15 September.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent quality. Classification is based on control samples taken regularly from 2019 to 2022. Samples taken at the monitoring station are of excellent quality. Ten control samples are collected during the bathing season and results are published continuously on the municipality's website. Classification is revised annually before the bathing season starts.

Risks

Risk of short-term pollution from heavy wind and rainfall, typically lasting maximum 3 days. Cyanobacteria blooms possible after rainy periods followed by warm weather. Large amounts of macroalgae (seaweed) can occur at the water's edge. Occasional pollution from accidents involving leisure boats, manure tanks, and sewer lines. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occasionally occur.
