Plage de la Carrière is a bathing beach located in the commune of Arradon in the Gulf of Morbihan, Brittany, France. The beach is situated in a coastal area with geomorphological features typical of southern Morbihan. Water quality monitoring has been conducted regularly since 2011 to assess bacteriological parameters and identify pollution sources.

Coastal marine water in the Gulf of Morbihan. The area experiences tidal phenomena with spring tide currents calculated offshore from the beach. Water quality monitoring includes bacteriological analysis and phytoplankton assessment.

Arradon commune, Gulf of Morbihan, Brittany, France.

Water Quality

Bacteriological water quality of the bathing water has been monitored from 2011 to 2014. A robustness test was conducted on the beach. Shellfish production zones in the area are classified as zone A for non-burrowing bivalves and zone B for burrowing bivalves. Chlorophyll a concentration and toxic phytoplankton abundance have been tracked from 2011 to 2014.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include collective wastewater treatment from the Prad Cadic and Brouelic treatment plants, stormwater discharge from the rainwater network, and non-collective wastewater systems. High tide levels have been recorded from 2012 to 2015. Macro-algae and phytoplankton proliferation potential has been assessed.
