Lac de Cécélés is a recreational lake located in the commune of Saint Mathieu de Treviers in Hérault, France. The lake measures 450 metres in length and 200 metres at its widest section, with a surface area of 6.4 hectares and a maximum depth of 11 metres. Swimming is facilitated on the south-east shore where a natural grass beach approximately 100 metres long and 30 metres wide provides access. The lake serves approximately 8,000 visitors annually, with peak daily attendance reaching 500 people during July and August.

Water

Freshwater lake with a length of 450 metres, width of 200 metres (average 150 metres), surface area of 6.4 hectares, and maximum depth of 11 metres. Fed by runoff from surrounding slopes and two temporary streams, one at the north-east end and another at the south-east.

Location

Saint Mathieu de Treviers, Hérault, France. Located 2 kilometres south-east of the village centre, accessed via the D26 road between Saint Mathieu de Treviers and Assas. A parking area with 50-vehicle capacity is provided downstream of the dam on gravel and bare ground.

Facilities

Three toilet facilities with washbasins at the guinguette. First-aid post equipped with a lifebuoy, rescue board, and first-aid kit. Several qualified lifeguards present on site. Telephone available for emergency services. Safety instructions and water analysis results displayed at the parking area and guinguette.

Season

Swimming period from mid-May to early September. Official water quality monitoring conducted from 1 July to 31 August. Guinguette operates from 15 April to 15 September.

Water Quality

Water quality classifications from 2007–2010 were: B (2007–2008), A (2009–2010). Microbiological quality is assessed using the A, B, C, and D classification system. Monitoring conducted by DDASS from 1 July to 31 August. No abundant deposits, foam formation, cyanobacterial episodes, or swimmer dermatitis cases were reported.
