Villafranca Lagoon is a natural inland lake located in the municipality of Villafranca de los Caballeros in Toledo Province, Castilla la Mancha. The lagoon is of mixed tectonic and karstic origin with high mineral content, situated within the Gigüela River basin. Three designated bathing zones are established on the southern shore of the Grande Lagoon: Orilla Banderas (B1), Orilla Cerro (C1), and Orilla Jorja (D1). The beaches are composed of medium to coarse sand, with a bed of silts and clays.

Water

Natural inland lagoon of mixed tectonic and karstic origin with high to very high mineral content. Situated in a sedimentary basin within the Gigüela River basin and part of the Guadiana hydrographic demarcation. The lagoon receives water from runoff, direct precipitation, groundwater aquifer discharge, and concessions from the Gigüela River via a canal. Elevation: 650 meters.

Location

Located approximately 5 km north of Villafranca de los Caballeros, accessed via the CM-3158 road. From the town, take the CM-400 towards Avenida de las Lagunas, then turn left onto CM-3158. After 2.5 km, turn left at the signposted 'Urbanización Lagunas' exit and continue straight to the lagoons. Parking is available at all three bathing zones.

B1 (Orilla Banderas): Parking, lifeguards, information signs, bar, picnic areas, waste bins, toilets, showers, recreational zone. C1 (Orilla Cerro): Parking, information signs, bar, picnic areas, waste bins, toilets, showers, private pool, recreational zone. D1 (Orilla Jorja): Parking, information signs, bar, picnic areas, waste bins, toilets, showers, private pool. No facilities allow domestic animals at any zone. No drinking fountains or boat docks are available.
