Lido Donnalucata is a sandy beach located near a small tourist harbour in Scicli, Sicily. The beach is protected by breakwaters to counter erosion. It has a width of 50 metres and extends for 1.6 kilometres along the coast. The area experiences a dry subtropical climate with hot summers and modest winter precipitation. The coastal zone has undergone anthropogenic development due to urbanization, with a significant seasonal population increase during summer months.

Water

Part of the Strait of Sicily (Canale di Sicilia). Sandy beach area 1.6 kilometres in length with a width of 50 metres. The water body is classified as belonging to minor basins between Irminio and Scicli (R 19083), coastal section 16 from Punta Scalambri to Punta Religione.

Scicli, Sicily (Ragusa province). The beach is situated near a small tourist harbour. Coordinates: Y = 36.7601, X = 14.6399. The beach is easily accessible and primarily used by local residents.

Facilities

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Monitoring is conducted by ASP7 and ARPA. Wastewater from Scicli is treated at a purification plant and discharged to sea via a submarine pipeline. Potential pollution sources include intensive agriculture, extensive urbanization, and untreated urban discharges. Heavy rainfall can cause overflow of stormwater into bathing waters.

Risks

Heavy precipitation can cause overflow of stormwater discharge into bathing waters. Stormwater discharge and spillway discharges are identified as short-term pollution sources. No cyanobacterial proliferation or macroalgal/phytoplankton events have been recorded in the last four years.
