Donnalucata Beach is a sandy beach located to the left of a small tourist harbour in Scicli, Sicily. The beach is 50 metres wide and is protected by breakwaters to control erosion. It is easily accessible and primarily used by local residents. The area experiences a dry subtropical climate with warm summers and modest winter precipitation.

Water

The bathing water is part of the Sicily Channel (Canale di Sicilia), classified as coastal water body IT1908156. The beach area extends 0.9 kilometres. The water body is influenced by the Minor Basins watershed between Irminio and Scicli (R 19083).

Location

Facilities

The beach is equipped with facilities and has free access. No municipal ordinances or signs prohibit animal access.

Water Quality

The water quality is classified as Excellent. Wastewater from the municipality of Scicli is treated at a purification plant and discharged into the sea via an offshore pipeline. Potential pollution sources include agricultural activities, intensive urbanization, and treated urban discharges. Stormwater runoff and overflow discharge systems have been identified as sources of pollution.

Risks

Heavy rainfall can cause overflow of stormwater discharge systems that feed into the bathing water. No pollution sources have been identified within the bathing area itself.
