Pozzillo is a rocky bathing area located on a low coast with intense urbanization in the Castellabate municipality. The shoreline is jagged and rocky, with a port area to the south. The bathing water has achieved an Excellent classification for the years 2020–2023.

Location

Castellabate, Salerno Province, Campania Region, Italy. The monitoring point is located at coordinates 40.271353°N, 14.937802°E, opposite the mouth of a surface watercourse at Pozzillo.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2023). Monitoring conducted by Regione Campania under Decreto Legislativo 30.05.08 n. 116.

Risks

Two wastewater treatment plants discharge into the area: one biological activated sludge plant at Maroccia (discharge to Vallone Valsella) and one at Ogliastro Marina (discharge to Vallone Arena). The sampling point is situated opposite a surface watercourse mouth at Pozzillo. An undertow pier of the San Marco port is located on the eastern side.
