Longchamp Beach is a fine sand bathing area located in Saint-Briac sur Mer in Ille-et-Vilaine, measuring 200 metres long and 100 metres wide. The beach has a maximum visitor capacity of 1,020 people and maintains excellent water quality classification under EU directives. No major contamination or algal blooms have been recorded at this location.

Location

Saint-Briac sur Mer, Ille-et-Vilaine department (35800). Parking and sanitary facilities are available. Dogs are prohibited on the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is Excellent under EU Directive 2006/7/CE and Class A under Directive 76/106/CEE for years 2021–2024. No major contamination events recorded during the bathing season. No green algal deposits or phytoplankton blooms detected.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified: overflow from the La Fosse pumping station (3 times per season), Saint-Briac sur Mer treatment plant discharge (daily), non-collective sanitation systems (daily), and stormwater outlet at Ruisseau de la Marre (during rain events). Possible presence of dogs, human pollution, and seagulls during spring tides. All identified sources have buffer zones (La Manche) except for human activity and animal presence on the beach.
