Longchamp Beach is located in Saint-Lunaire on the Emerald Coast in Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany. The beach is situated on a rocky coastline and is backed by a dyke separating it from an urbanized dune system. Approximately two-thirds of the beach lies within Saint-Lunaire commune and one-third within Saint-Briac commune. The beach is relatively sheltered by rocky points at its eastern and western ends, making it a popular location for water sports including surfing, bodyboarding, and kitesurfing. The tidal range in the area exceeds 13 meters, with the sea retreating approximately 430 meters at low tide.

Location

Saint-Lunaire, Côte d'Émeraude, Ille-et-Vilaine, approximately 75 kilometers from Rennes and 13 kilometers from Saint-Malo. The beach extends partially into the neighboring commune of Saint-Briac.

Water Quality

Water quality of Saint-Lunaire beaches is classified as excellent by French state services. The municipality holds Blue Flag status and employs best-practice sanitation management. The bathing profile was established to identify potential sources of microbiological contamination and ensure continued water quality protection.

Risks

Currents of varying intensity are present; strength is elevated beyond the rocky points and moderate on the beach itself. Current intensity is more pronounced before high tide due to reduced protection from the western rocky point. The beach is exposed to significant wave action from the northwest.
