Lūksto lake bathing beach is located in Telšiai district, Lithuania. The beach features a natural shoreline with a sandy beach approximately 400 meters long. The average water depth is 1.20 meters with a maximum depth of 2.0 meters. The beach can accommodate approximately 600 visitors during peak season under favorable weather conditions. Water quality has met excellent quality standards from 2018 to 2024.

Location

Telšiai district, Varnių town municipality, Lithuania. The bathing water monitoring location coordinates are X=55.7257, Y=22.3387.

Facilities

Two outdoor toilets. Volleyball court, children's play area, boat and water bicycle rental, outdoor cafe. Waste management with 3 general waste containers and separate containers for recyclables (paper, glass, plastic). Waste containers are emptied twice per week during summer season.

Water Quality

Water quality has consistently met excellent quality standards from 2018 to 2024 according to Directive 2006/7/EB requirements. The ecological status of the water body is medium. No concentrated or dispersed pollution sources exist in the impact zone. Occasional contamination is possible due to irresponsible human actions. No cyanobacteria, macroalgae, or marine phytoplankton studies have been conducted. Eutrophication impact on water quality is determined by natural origin or human activity results.

Risks

Short-term pollution possible during heavy rainfall events, typically disappearing within 1–2 days after rainfall ends. Dogs are prohibited on the beach.
