Marina Nova is a bathing area located in the municipality of Monfalcone in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The beach features a pebbly surface and is situated along a coastline with maritime works and nearby urban settlements. The water quality has been classified as excellent based on monitoring data from 2015 to 2018, with the classification improving from sufficient in 2015 to good in 2016 and excellent from 2017 onwards. The bathing area covers approximately 0.869 square kilometers.

Location

Marina Nova - Camping Panzano Lido is located in Monfalcone, Gorizia Province, Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The centre coordinates are 45.782702°N, 13.545172°E. The area extends from 45.782074°N, 13.541692°E to 45.782290°N, 13.548190°E.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent based on reference years 2015-2018. Escherichia coli measurements: 30 CFU/100 ml at 90th percentile, 38 CFU/100 ml at 95th percentile. Intestinal enterococci measurements: 22 CFU/100 ml at 90th percentile, 34 CFU/100 ml at 95th percentile. Quality was sufficient in 2015, good in 2016, and excellent from 2017 through 2019.

Risks

Pollution sources include Valentinis Canal (Isonzo River diversion), Brancolo Canal, Isonzo River, and the Staranzano sewage treatment plant diffuser. Short-duration pollution events can occur during adverse weather and sea conditions: heavy rainfall, southeasterly wind, and Isonzo River flooding. Urban runoff and river floods contribute to pollution. Strong southerly winds and high tides can prevent proper mixing of freshwater with seawater, allowing pollutants to remain in the area. No cyanobacterial eutrophication phenomena have been reported. No proliferation of potentially toxic algal strains has been detected.
