Duino Scogliera is a coastal marine bathing area located in the municipality of Duino-Aurisina in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The bathing area is situated on the outer side of a breakwater that protects a small harbour. It achieved an excellent water quality classification based on monitoring data from 2015–2018.

Location

Duino-Aurisina, Trieste province, Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The bathing area is centered at latitude 45.772080°N, longitude 13.599454°E, with an extension of 0.433 km. The area extends from coordinates 45.773230°N; 13.597992°E to 45.772150°N; 13.601813°E.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia Coli 90th percentile: 94 CFU/100 ml, 95th percentile: 145 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci 90th percentile: 35 CFU/100 ml, 95th percentile: 55 CFU/100 ml. No variations in water quality were observed during the 2015–2018 bathing seasons. The Duino wastewater treatment plant, which was conveyed to the Sistiana treatment plant in 2018, has been identified as a potential pollution source. No pollution events were recorded during 2015–2018.

Risks

No cyanobacterial blooms or eutrophic phenomena have been reported. No cases of potentially toxic algal proliferation have been detected. No short-duration pollution events were recorded during 2015–2018.
