Plage de Robinsons is a sandy beach located in Rognac on the shores of Étang de Berre. The beach is 679 metres long with an average width of 5 metres, oriented east-southeast. It features sand and pebbles bordered by a pine forest behind which are a road and some residential buildings. A 30-metre dike is present at the south end of the beach.

Monitoring period typically May to September, with emphasis on summer months.

Water Quality

2024 classification: Excellent. Historical classifications: 2021 Good, 2022 Excellent, 2023 Excellent, 2024 Excellent. Monitoring conducted under the 2006 Bathing Water Directive using intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli parameters (CFU/100ml). Regulatory values for excellent quality: intestinal enterococci 100 (95th percentile), E. coli 250 (95th percentile).

Risks

Nine storm episodes (4.6mm to 45mm over 24 hours) have been monitored since 2012 across Étang de Berre beaches. Average bacterial contamination 24 hours after storms: 115 CFU E. coli/100ml and 79 CFU enterococci/100ml. Three beaches (Champigny, Marettes, and Romaniquette) showed increased sensitivity to storm contamination. Beach closure for 24 hours is recommended after storms or significant rainfall (10mm/24h). High number of discharge points (1) in the 1000m zone around the bathing area; moderate (1) and low (7) discharge points also present.
