Water Quality

Water quality classified as EXCELLENT for the period 2008-2011. The Ligurian Sea is not characterized by cyanobacterial blooms due to predominant oligotrophic conditions. No cases of proliferation of potentially toxic algal strains have been recorded.

Risks

River mouth identified as a pollution source. Short-duration pollution events and anomalous situations are being assessed through a modelling approach still under development.
