Mouttas is an artificial bathing water area located in front of a hotel unit in northern Paphos, Cyprus. The beach is rocky with a sandstone substrate and features a modified shoreline. The main swimming area is an artificial lagoon created by excavating the rocky substrate, with a nearly enclosed design that has a single water inlet-outlet not exceeding 10 metres. The lagoon has a sandy bottom with large rocks that reduce water circulation, with depths ranging from approximately 1.5 to 2.5 metres. The beach stretches for 70 metres and typically accommodates up to 100 swimmers daily.

Location

Located in the Kissonerga community, Paphos District, Cyprus. Coordinates: 32.3875°E, 34.8246°N (ETRS89 reference system). The monitoring point is positioned at the area of highest swimmer density.

Facilities

No public facilities available. Swimmers can access toilets and showers at the hotel. The beach is operated by a private concessionaire who maintains cleanliness using manual and mechanical means. Summer season services include sunbeds and umbrellas. Water sports activities such as diving are permitted in the area.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data. The coastal body to which this area belongs is in good ecological status. No short-term pollution incidents have been recorded during swimming periods 2008-2010. Low risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton eutrophication development.
