Nissia Gardens is a sigmoid beach divided into two artificial bays located in the Protaras water body near Paralimni. The beach has an average width of 14 m in the smaller bay and 23 m in the larger bay, with a total length of 70 m. The area is part of the European Ecological Network Natura 2000. An artificial breakwater runs along the western side, and a central breakwater composed of large rocks extends 75 m into the swimming waters, dividing the two bays. The beach has sandy substrate with rocks near the sides and central breakwater.

Located in Paralimni Municipality, Famagusta Province, Cyprus. Coordinates: 34.068918E, 34.996541N (WGS84). Situated at the point of maximum bather concentration.

Facilities

Loungers and umbrellas available. Recycling bins present. No public facilities such as changing rooms, toilets, or showers currently available. No lifeguard services. Beach cleaning is managed by Paralimni Municipality. Maximum daily bather capacity: 100 persons.

Water Quality

Water quality is not monitored at this beach. The area is susceptible to nitrate pollution. Potential pollution sources include irrigation water runoff from nearby green spaces and wastewater discharge from hotel facilities. Neighboring monitored beaches have been classified as having exceptional water quality.

Risks

Moderate risk of short-term pollution from wastewater discharge from hotel facilities and passing vessels. Moderate risk of eutrophication from macroalgae and phytoplankton development based on identified pollution sources.
