Lombardí is an artificial beach located in a sigmoid bay with rocky arms on the northern and southern sides. The beach is divided into two sections: the northern part is narrow and rocky with an average width of 8 meters, while the southern part is wider and sandy with an average width of 17 meters. The beach is part of the European Natura 2000 ecological network and is bordered by hospitality facilities, hotel installations, and green areas with eucalyptus and pine trees.

Water

The bathing water is part of the Protaras water body. The swimming area has a sandy substrate with limited local rock presence mainly at the northern and southern edges. The beach length is 120 meters. Average water depth is 1 meter and maximum water depth is 3.5 meters.

Location

Lombardí is located in the Paralimni Municipality, Ammochostos District, Cyprus. The monitoring point is situated at coordinates 34.063032E, 35.003360N.

Facilities

Umbrellas and sunbeds are available. Changing rooms, toilets, and waste bins are provided. Lifeguard services are not available. The Paralimni Municipality is responsible for beach cleaning. Water sports infrastructure is located approximately 100 meters from the beach.

Water Quality

The bathing water quality is not monitored. Neighboring bathing areas that have been monitored for many years under Directive 76/160/EEC are classified as having exceptional water quality. The beach is located in an area vulnerable to nitrogen pollution.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include wastewater runoff from residential units and a rubber waste identified flowing over the cliff on the southern side of the beach. Potential sewage discharge and vessel activity related to water sports infrastructure pose risks. There is a moderate risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton development. The risk of short-term pollution is low.
