Nordre Bådelaug is a bathing area located on the Falster side at the edge of Nykøbing Falster, facing Guldborg Sound between Lolland and Falster. Bathers use a boat dock at the end of Pandebjergvej. The site has no sandy beach; swimming from the shoreline is difficult due to stones. The bottom consists of clay, stones, and aquatic vegetation. Water depth is approximately 1 metre at the dock and at least 6.1 metres in the shipping lane.

Water

Guldborg Sound (Smålandsfarvandet), a saltwater body between Lolland and Falster. Water depth approximately 1 metre at the dock, at least 6.1 metres in the shipping lane. Water temperature during bathing season (1 May to 1 September) ranges from 10–21 °C. Water levels vary significantly with tides and sustained westerly winds.

Location

Nykøbing Falster, Falster side. Access via Pandebjergvej. Parking available at the end of Pandebjergvej near the boat dock. Nearest public transport: bus lines on Gåbensevej.

Water Quality

Water quality classification not yet formally determined; preliminary data from 2015 and 2017 indicates "excellent" classification. No exceedances of water quality requirements were recorded in 2015 and 2017. The bathing water is not subject to significant faecal pollution. Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) blooms can occur, particularly during prolonged warm, sunny weather and with easterly winds. Macroalgae (seaweed) accumulation risk is generally low but can occur at the shoreline.

Risks

Blue-green algae blooms possible during sustained warm, sunny weather with easterly winds; produces toxins causing headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhoea. Macroalgae accumulation can occur at the shoreline; bacterial survival is extended in seaweed. Glass shards, litter, oil spills, and other chemical pollution can occasionally occur. Sudden faecal pollution can arise from accidents involving pleasure boats and rainwater discharge.
