Numana Palace Nord is a bathing beach in Numana, Marche region, with fine calcareous and siliceous gravel of marine origin. The beach has an average slope of 3% on the emerged section and 8% on the submerged section. The beach is 750 metres long and 60 metres wide, with a distance of 4 metres between medium-low and high water levels. The surrounding area consists of urban settlements and tourist facilities.

Location

Numana, province of Ancona, Marche region. The competent authority is the Municipality of Numana (Piazza del Santuario, 24 – 60026 Numana, AN; tel. 071/9339835) and the Capitaneria Di Porto Ancona.

Facilities

Lifeguard and first aid services, disabled access services, toilets, food and beverage outlets and restaurants, sports facilities, play structures for children. Animals not permitted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E. Wastewater treatment by biological activated sludge facility located in Castelfidardo with capacity of 62,000 population equivalents (approximately 22,150 served from urban settlements, approximately 6,550 from industrial activities). Monthly monitoring by ARPAM in 2010 showed E. coli levels ranging from below detection limit to 110 CFU/100ml, all compliant with authorized limits. Overflow discharge points exist along the beach at Numana and along the Musone river during intense rainfall events.

Risks

During intense rainfall, sewerage system capacity is exceeded and wastewater overflows occur, with discharge points along the beach and the Musone river. Windsurfing and sailing schools operate in the area with designated vessel launch corridors.
