Løkken Syd Strand is a bathing beach located in Løkken, a busy tourist and holiday town in Denmark with 1,569 inhabitants. The beach consists of fine sand without large stones and extends approximately 1,250 metres in length with a width of about 125 metres at its widest point. The seabed is also composed of fine sand. Beach huts are stationed along the shore, and dunes separate the town from the beach.

Water

Coastal saltwater in the Skagerrak. Water depth under 2 metres extends approximately 100 metres from the coast. Primary current direction is from the southwest. Depth conditions are variable due to tidal, current, and weather effects.

Season

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring samples from 2011–2014 testing for E. coli and enterococci bacteria, which indicate faecal contamination. Monitoring samples are routinely collected during the bathing season. High concentrations of faecal bacteria are periodically measured at the outlets of two watercourses: Kallehaverenden to the north and Nybæk 200 metres to the south. Glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occur. Sudden contamination may occur from accidents involving recreational boats, manure tanks, and sewer lines.
