Bonnegrâce is a semi-enclosed bathing beach located at the entrance of Six-Fours in southern France. The beach stretches 800 metres in length and is bounded to the northwest by a concrete dyke at the mouth of the Reppe river and to the southeast by rock embankments. The beach has high visitor numbers and is equipped with restaurants, bars, rescue posts, and shower facilities. Water renewal is acceptable and there is no history of algal blooms.

Six-Fours, at the entrance of the town. Several car parks are available along the beach. The beach is near the Port of Sanary.

Water Quality

Water quality was generally classified as 'good' between 2001 and 2008 based on DDASS sampling. Classifications of 'medium' quality were recorded in 2002 at all three sampling points, in 2003 and 2005 at the Manuella sampling point, and in 2005 at the rescue post sampling point. Generalized pollution occurred on 15 September 2009 following storms, and localized pollution was detected at Bonnegrâce Les Lônes in early August 2009. The vulnerability index for the beach is classified as 'strong'. Potential pollution sources include the coastal river Reppe (medium risk in dry and high risk in wet conditions), Port of Sanary (medium risk in dry conditions, low risk in wet conditions), storm water collectors (low risk in dry conditions, moderate risk in wet conditions), and sewage lifting stations (low risk in both conditions). Cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation risk is classified as low.

Risks

Bacterial pollution from the Reppe river, particularly during rainfall events and from street runoff. Risk of contamination from the Port of Sanary. Potential overflow of sewage during network malfunctions or heavy rainfall. The bathing zone closest to the Reppe river mouth is not supervised.
