La Pierre Attelée is a bathing beach in the commune of Saint-Brévin-les-Pins. The beach is open and exposed, allowing pollution to disperse toward the open sea relatively quickly. Water quality monitoring data from 2005 to 2010 shows good quality according to the 1976 Directive criteria, and excellent quality according to the 2006/7/CE Directive criteria.

Water

Coastal marine bathing water. The beach is open to the sea with low wave exposure. Tidal and current dynamics influence water movement. A 1 km perimeter on either side of the beach defines the immediate study zone.

Saint-Brévin-les-Pins commune, French Atlantic coast (côte brévinoise).

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent according to Directive 2006/7/CE. Microbiological data from 2006 to 2010 did not exceed thresholds set by AFSSET. The Mourandière du Nord watercourse is identified as a potential pollution source. Discharge outlet R-12500 collects rainwater and overflow wastewater from the Roussellerie treatment plant (Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef territory).

Risks

Potential bacterial contamination risk from the Mourandière du Nord watercourse and discharge outlet R-12500. High concentration of birds on the beach. Regular jellyfish arrivals occur. Risk of pollution from heavy rainfall events (over 15 mm) exists but is low during the summer bathing season. Southwest wind can direct pollution toward the coast.
