Baños del Carmen is a natural coastal bathing beach in Málaga, Andalucía, situated along the Mediterranean coast. The beach is 140 metres long with an average width of 20 metres, composed of boulders with sand substrate. Conditions are characterized by moderate wave exposure with currents generally flowing toward the northeast. The beach experiences low occupancy and is classified as urban in character.

Water

Mediterranean coastal waters influenced by Atlantic waters. The water body is classified as shallow (batimetría: aguas someras) with mud and sand substrate. Tidal range is micro-tidal (0–2 metres). Wave regime is dominated by easterly and east-southeasterly winds. Annual precipitation in the area ranges from 600 to 800 millimetres.

Location

Located in Málaga municipality, Málaga province, Andalucía, in the Litoral de Málaga area. Access is available on foot or by car. The beach is near Puerto de Málaga and Rincón de la Victoria.

Facilities

Surveillance equipment is available. Lifeguard post (Cruz Roja): No. Red Cross lifeguard post and lifesaving equipment are not present. No toilets, showers, disabled access, waste bins, or cleaning service. Signage is present.

Water quality was classified as Excellent in all four monitoring years: 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Monitoring period: 2013–2016. Low-level microbiological contamination risk of short duration (24 hours) identified from diffuse sources including land uses, built surfaces, and altered areas in the influence zone.
