Calaceite is a natural Mediterranean coastal bathing water located in Torrox, Málaga, Andalucía. The beach is 365 meters long with an average width of 20 meters and features dark sand composition. Bathing conditions are characterised by moderate wave exposure with dominant easterly winds. The area has low occupancy and remains relatively isolated with minimal urbanisation. The beach achieved excellent sanitary classification across all monitoring seasons from 2013 to 2016.

Water

Mediterranean coastal water body. Water depth is deep. Substrate consists of mud and sand. Tidal range is microtidal (0–2 m). Current regime is dominant towards the northeast. Wave exposure is moderate with dominant easterly and east-southeast waves associated with Levante winds. Annual precipitation ranges from 400 to 600 mm with a torrential index of 25–50%.

Location

Torrox, Málaga province, Andalucía, Spain. Access is by car. The beach is located near Caleta de Vélez sports port.

Facilities

Walkways present. Waste bins available. Beach cleaning service provided. No lifeguards, no Red Cross station, no rescue equipment, no signage, no boardwalk, no showers, no toilets, no disabled access, no scuba diving zone, no boat rental, no nautical club, no anchoring zone.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2013–2016). Classified as new bathing water. The water body is influenced by Atlantic waters. Diffuse pollution sources include land use in the influence zone, forest surfaces, and natural areas. Low risk of jellyfish proliferation, low risk of phytoplankton proliferation, and low risk of macroalgae proliferation.
