Playa de La Roqueta is a maritime bathing zone located in Guardamar del Segura, Alicante, in the autonomous community of Valencia, Spain. The beach has a longitudinal open configuration with a sandy composition of artificial origin and lacks defensive structures or a promenade. It extends 1194.5 meters along the high tide line with an average width of 71.4 meters. The beach is situated on a low accumulation coast with microtidal range and currents flowing from south to north.

Location

Guardamar del Segura, Alicante province, Valencia region, Spain. The beach is bounded on the north by Playa de Centre and on the south by Playa del Moncaio. Parking is available. Access for disabled persons is provided.

Water Quality

Water quality classification system based on visual inspection and monitoring. Quality ratings are assessed as Excellent, Good, Sufficient, or Insufficient. Monitoring conducted weekly during bathing season evaluating water analysis, water appearance, and sand cleanliness. No direct discharges to the coastline affect water quality. Urban wastewater treatment facility (EDAR Guardamar del Segura) serves 19,584 inhabitants with discharge directed to irrigation reservoirs, not to the sea. Water mass status: Moderate.

Risks

Potential short-term contamination risks identified as low frequency with mild impact: rainfall, urban sanitation, and coastal discharges. Rivers and channels, industrial installations, port facilities, and diffuse pollution all classified as low frequency with mild impact. No cyanobacteria proliferation has been detected in the Valencia coastal area.
