Playa del Moncayo is a semi-urban beach located in Guardamar del Segura, Alicante, in the Valencian Community of Spain. It is a longitudinal open-configuration beach with a sandy composition and no coastal defence structures. The beach has a low-accumulation coastal form and is bordered to the north by Playa de La Roqueta and to the south by Playa de Ortigues-Campo. The beach is situated in an agricultural land use zone with a Mediterranean dry climate.

Water

Coastal marine water body belonging to the Segura River Basin hydrographic demarcation. Shoreline length of 1,526.7 metres with mean width of 32.8 metres. Sandy composition. Water body code CW Costera (Coastal). Current direction from south to north. Microtidal range. Low-accumulation coastal type.

Guardamar del Segura municipality, Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain. Parking available. Access for persons with disabilities available.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified under Real Decreto 1341/2007 and Directive 2006/7/CE. Official monitoring carried out weekly during bathing season. Water body status classified as Moderate. Monitoring point PM1 established in 1988 at beach centre. No direct discharges to the coastline affect water quality. Low-frequency, low-impact risks from rainfall, urban wastewater systems, and coastal discharges.

Low-frequency, low-impact potential contamination risks from rainfall, urban wastewater systems, and coastal discharges. Low-frequency, low-impact risks from rivers/canals, industrial installations, port installations, and diffuse contamination. Cyanobacteria proliferation not detected in Valencian Community coastal waters. Phytoplankton proliferations and jellyfish blooms are natural phenomena that may occur in association with coastal geomorphology, climatic conditions, and high water temperatures.
