Rumina is a 1,300-metre Mediterranean coastal bathing beach located in Mojácar, Almería. The beach has a moderate width of 20 metres with dark sand and gravel composition, experiencing moderately exposed conditions with moderate wave conditions. It is an urban beach with high occupancy, naturally deep and sandy with micromareal tidal range and currents dominant toward the east and east-southeast.

Water

Mediterranean coastal waters, deep and sandy with arenaceous substrate (gravels and rocks). Bathymetry is deep. Micromareal tidal range of 0–2 metres with currents dominant toward the east, east-southeast, and east-northeast. Wave regime is dominated by easterly and east-northeast winds associated with levante winds. Annual precipitation is 200–400 millimetres with torrential index of 75–100%.

Location

Mojácar, Almería, Andalucía, Spain. The beach is easily accessible on foot or by car. The nearest sports port is at Garrucha, 5 kilometres away.

Facilities

Red Cross post, lifeguards, surveillance equipment, showers, waste bins, cleaning service, water sports rental, signage for hazards and general information. No wheelchair access. No toilet facilities.

Water quality classification: Excellent for all monitoring seasons 2013–2016. Short-duration contamination risk is low, classified as microbiological with 24-hour duration. Diffuse pollution source identified from land use, built surfaces, and altered areas in the influence zone. The Aguas River is present in the area.
