Platja de sa Boadella is a cove beach located in Lloret de Mar, Girona, in northeastern Spain. The beach measures 189 meters long and 25 meters wide on average, with a surface area of 5,432 square meters. It is situated in a semi-natural environment surrounded by pine forest with two residential houses nearby. The beach is bordered to the north and south by rocky coastal sections filled with small coves. Summer occupancy is moderate.

Water

Mediterranean Sea. Rocky deep water mass (C14 Begur-Blanes type) with low continental influence. Average salinity 37.2–38.4 psu. Water temperatures: June 20.1°C, July 23.1°C, August 23.9°C, September 23.2°C. Significant wave height 0.69 m, average period 6.2 seconds, most frequent direction SSW. Predominant sea state is choppy. Weak easterly winds predominate. High hydrological response velocity index. Does not receive direct input from natural watercourses.

Lloret de Mar municipality in La Selva comarca, Girona province, Catalonia, Spain. The beach is located on the Mediterranean coast.

First week of June to third week of September.

Water Quality

Water quality monitored under European Directive 2006/7/CE. Microbiological indicators monitored weekly: Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci. Monitoring period: first week of June to third week of September (17 consecutive weeks). Weekly microbiological analysis on Saturdays. Environmental inspections minimum 3 times weekly. Quality classification determined according to Directive 2006/7/CE criteria.

Risks

Algal proliferation monitoring programme in place to detect toxic phytoplankton species. Environmental inspections assess water transparency, coloration, floating human debris, marine and terrestrial plant remains, foam, phytoplankton patches, hydrocarbons, and jellyfish presence.
