Playa de Vivers is a maritime bathing zone located in Guardamar del Segura, Alicante, in the Valencian Community of Spain. The beach has a longitudinal open configuration with a length of 2493.1 metres and average width of 29.6 metres, composed of sand. It features perpendicular breakwaters to the north and coastal rock armour to the south, with a pedestrian promenade behind the dune zone. The beach is bounded by Playa de Tusales to the north and Playa de Babilonia to the south.

Water Quality

Water quality is managed under Royal Decree 1341/2007. The bathing zone is classified as part of coastal water mass ES070MSPFC018. Weekly inspections are conducted during the bathing season assessing water analysis, water appearance, and sand cleanliness on a scale of excellent, good, sufficient, or insufficient. The Río Segura discharges at the northern limit with continuous flow and medium risk classification. The municipal wastewater treatment plant (EDAR Guardamar del Segura) treats 3175 m³/day with 98% suspended solids removal, 99% BOD₅ removal, and 95% COD removal using tertiary treatment plus ultraviolet disinfection.

Risks

Río Segura discharges continuously at the northern limit of the beach with medium risk classification. Short-duration contamination factors present with low frequency and mild impact: rainfall, urban sanitation, and coastal discharges. Low-frequency, mild-impact factors: rivers and canals, industrial installations, port installations, and diffuse pollution. No environmental control point established due to absence of direct coastal discharges or urban sanitation connections affecting water quality.
