Platja dels Palangrers is a small beach located in the municipality of Roses in Alt Empordà, Catalonia, Spain. The beach is situated in a residential urban setting, bounded to the southeast by a rocky area and to the northwest by the Roses port breakwater. The beach measures 143 metres in length with an average width of 11 metres and a surface area of 1,400 square metres. It has a very steep water entry and medium occupancy levels.

Location

Located in Roses municipality (population 19,921) in Alt Empordà comarca, Girona province, Catalonia, Spain, on the Mediterranean coast. The beach is in an urban residential area adjacent to Roses port.

June to September (official monitoring season).

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored biweekly from June to September by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) according to Directive 2006/7/CE. Monitoring includes microbiological analysis of faecal contamination indicators: Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci. Quarterly quality assessments are published, with annual classification based on statistical treatment of analytical results from the last four bathing seasons. Quality categories are: Excellent, Good, Sufficient, or Insufficient.

Risks

The beach is located in a coastal zone with a high hydrological response velocity index. In cases of temporary water quality affection, precautionary warnings are issued to inform the public that water may be temporarily unsuitable for bathing during rainfall episodes or occasional wastewater treatment incidents.
