El Lance is a natural coastal bathing water located in Granada, Andalucía, along the Mediterranean coast. The beach spans 360 metres in length with an average width of 18 metres and features dark sand. Water conditions are calm with moderate wave exposure. The beach is semi-urbanized with medium occupation levels.

Water

Mediterranean coastal water. The water body is classified as deep water with a mud and sand substrate. Tidal range is micromareal (0–2 metres). Wave regime is dominant from the east and northeast associated with levante wind. Current regime is dominant towards the east, east-southeast, and east-northeast.

Location

Rubite municipality, Granada province, Andalucía, Spain. Access is available on foot and by car. The beach is signposted with walkways available.

Facilities

Showers, waste bins, cleaning service, and signage are available. Lifeguards and rescue equipment are not present. Disabled access is not available. Red Cross station is not present. No water sports facilities or diving zone.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent for the 2013–2016 monitoring period (all four years rated Excellent). Risk of short-duration contamination is low and microbiological in nature (24-hour duration). Diffuse contamination sources include land use in the influence zone, built-up and altered surfaces, and agricultural areas. No point pollution sources are recorded.

Risks

Risk of short-duration microbiological contamination is low. Proliferation risks for jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae are all low.
