La Paloma is a 955-meter natural Mediterranean coastal beach in Casares, Málaga, with shallow waters and sandy substrate. The beach has a medium occupation level and semiurban development. Water conditions are calm with a moderate wave exposure dominated by easterly winds. The beach is 30 meters wide on average and composed of dark sand.

Water

Mediterranean coastal water body with shallow bathymetry and sandy substrate. Annual precipitation ranges from 600 to 800 mm. Tidal range is microtidal (0–2 m). Current regime is dominant toward the northeast. Wave regime is dominated by easterly and east-southeasterly winds associated with levante wind.

Location

Located in Casares, Málaga, Andalucía, Spain, on the Málaga Coast (Litoral de Málaga). The beach is accessible by car. The nearest significant infrastructure is Puerto Deportivo La Duquesa.

Facilities

Red Cross post (Puesto Cruz Roja), lifeguard surveillance equipment, showers, waste bins, cleaning service, nautical equipment rental available. Signage and danger warnings present. No lifesaving equipment, no boardwalk, no ramps, no toilets, no disabled access.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent for all monitoring seasons (2013–2016). Short-duration contamination risk is low with microbiological origin (24-hour duration). Diffuse pollution sources include land use, constructed surfaces, and altered areas in the influence zone. The stream Ayo. De la Jornada is present in the area.

Risks

Medium risk of macroalgae proliferation. Low risk of jellyfish. Low risk of phytoplankton proliferation.
