Playa Calarreona is a natural sandy beach located in Águilas on the Mediterranean coast. The beach stretches 300 metres in length with an average width of 35 metres and features golden sand. It is designated as a bathing area and experiences high occupancy levels. The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag designation.

Facilities

Footwash stations (4 units, non-functional). Toilets (2 units). No showers, no changing rooms.

Water Quality

Water quality was classified as excellent from 2000–2011. The coastal water body is in good ecological status. No significant pollution sources are present. No authorised discharges in the proximate area.

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton blooms are a natural phenomenon that rarely affects public health. Sampling in 2008 and 2009 detected potentially toxic cells with low densities. Risk level: very low or low. Short-duration episodes are unlikely. Jellyfish appear seasonally, with peak abundance from early spring to late summer.
