Playa El Moro is a coastal bathing beach located in Corralejo, Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, Spain. The beach stretches 560 metres in length with an average width of 45 metres and features fine golden sand. It is exposed to strong wave action and currents, with water depths ranging from 0 to 7 metres. The beach is monitored during the official swimming season from 1 June to 30 September.

Coastal marine water body. Bathymetry: 0 to -7 metres. Fine golden sand substrate. Strong wave regime. Water area: 560 metres long and 45 metres wide. High wave exposure.

Location

Located in Corralejo, municipality of La Oliva, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain. Vehicle access is available. Parking is available at the beach.

Facilities

Lifeguards present. Parking available. Trash bins available. No public water fountain, showers, foot washing stations, restrooms, changing rooms, bars, telephone, public address system, umbrella rental, canopy rental, or lounger rental. No pedestrian access. No disabled access. No medical attention or doctor on site.

Water Quality

Water quality classification based on four years of microbiological monitoring for Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci according to RD 1341/2007. No previous contamination episodes recorded. The coastal water mass ES70FVTI2 - Punta Jandía – Punta del Lago is in good ecological status with good or better overall state. Cyanobacteria proliferation episodes (Trichodesmium) recorded in 2004, 2010, and more intensely in 2017.

Risks

Strong wave regime. Strong currents. Episodes of cyanobacteria proliferation (Trichodesmium) recorded previously. No risk from jellyfish or sea urchins. No risk from macroalgae.
