Playa La Pinta (San Eugenio) is a coastal bathing area located in Adeje, Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, Spain. The beach is 197 metres long and 43 metres wide, situated in the Costa Adeje–Torviscas area. The water body is characterized by tranquil conditions with a sandy substrate and depths ranging from 0 to 4 metres. The bathing season runs from 1 February to 30 November annually.

Water

Coastal water body with a sandy substrate. Bathymetry ranges from 0 to minus 4 metres. Wave exposure is classified as exposed–protected. Wave regime consists of calm waters. Tidal range is 1–3 metres. The water mass is classified as ES70TFTV_1 (Montaña Pelada–Barranco Seco) superficial coastal natural water.

Location

Adeje municipality, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. Located in the Costa Adeje–Torviscas area. Pedestrian and vehicle access are both good. A promenade is present. Parking is available and is rated as good.

Facilities

Showers, foot wash station, bins, public telephone, lifeguards, medical attention, disabled access (good), bars, umbrella rental, sunbed rental, water activities including rollers and inflatable water castles.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is based on evaluation of Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci indicators collected over four years in accordance with Royal Decree 1341/2007. The underlying water mass ES70TFTV_1 is in good ecological status (biological and physical–chemical) with an overall state of good or better. No previous contamination episodes are recorded.

Risks

Identified contamination sources include a diffuse source at Puerto Colón sports marina and point sources at the Torviscas EBAR overflow, Torviscas terrestrial outfall, and Puerto Colón Nautical Club pools. Sporadic contamination episodes from stormwater runoff during heavy rainfall and urban wastewater (both raw and treated) are possible with duration under 72 hours. Accidental hydrocarbon spills and saltwater discharge from pool emptying are also identified. Cyanobacteria Trichodesmium proliferation episodes occurred in 2004, 2010, and more intensely in 2017. No risk from jellyfish, sea urchins, or macroalgae.
