Pozuelo is a natural Mediterranean coastal bathing water located in Almuñecar, Granada, in Andalucía, Spain. The beach spans 520 metres in length with an average width of 30 metres and features dark sand composition. It has a high occupancy rate and is classified as an urban beach with calm bathing conditions and moderate wave exposure dominated by easterly and east-southeasterly winds.

Mediterranean coastal water in the Cuenca Mediterránea Andaluza hydrographic district. Depth is classified as deep water. Substrate is mud and sand. Micromareal range of 0–2 metres. Dominant current direction is towards the northeast. Annual total precipitation is 400–600 millimetres with a torrentiality index of 25–50%.

Almuñecar, Granada, Andalucía, Spain. Accessible on foot easily and by vehicle. A maritime promenade and walkways are present.

Classified as excellent quality for all monitoring seasons 2013–2016. Low short-term microbiological contamination risk determined using standard UNE 150008 methodology. Diffuse pollution sources identified from land use in the influence zone and built/altered surfaces. No point source contamination recorded.

Risks

Low risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae blooms. Short-term microbiological pollution risk of low magnitude lasting up to 24 hours from watercourses (Barranco de las Golondrinas and Arroyo).
