Velilla is a bathing beach in Almuñecar, Granada, located on the Mediterranean coast of Andalusia. The beach is 1,495 meters long with an average width of 52 meters and features a composition of gravel and dark sand. It is an urban, well-developed beach with tranquil bathing conditions and is classified as moderately exposed to wave action, predominantly from the east and southeast.

Water

Mediterranean coastal waters influenced by Atlantic currents. Microtidal regime with a range of 0–2 meters. Dominantly northeast current. Deep waters with substrate of mud and sand. Moderately exposed to wave action with dominant easterly and southeasterly winds.

Location

Almuñecar, Granada, Andalusia, Spain. The beach is situated within the Maro-Salobreña cliffs natural area. Access is available on foot and by car, with disabled access facilities provided.

Facilities

Red Cross lifeguard post, rescue equipment, surveillance equipment, lifeguard station, signage including danger warning signs, toilets, showers, waste bins, cleaning service, disabled access, maritime services, and nautical equipment rental. A promenade and boardwalks are present. Marina del Este is located nearby.

Classified as excellent water quality during all monitoring seasons from 2013 to 2016. Short-duration contamination risk is low and microbiological in nature. Risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation is low.
