Puerto Beach is located in Pilar de la Horadada, Alicante, in the Valencian Community. The beach has an irregular closed configuration with perpendicular breakwaters for coastal defense and a rigid maritime promenade. It is bordered to the north by Conde Beach and to the south by Villas Beach. The beach has a sandy composition and is situated on a low-accumulation coastline with microtidal range.

Water Quality

Water quality classifications available for 2020–2023 seasons. Weekly inspections conducted during bathing season (1 June to 15 September) assess water analysis, water appearance, and sand cleanliness on an excellent–good–sufficient–insufficient scale. No direct discharges to the shoreline affect water quality. Sewage treatment plant (EDAR) serves the municipality with 98% BOD removal efficiency.

Risks

Short-duration contamination risk factors identified as low frequency and mild impact: rainfall, urban sanitation, and coastal discharges. Potential proliferation of phytoplankton, jellyfish, cyanobacteria, and macroalgae assessed; no cyanobacteria episodes detected on Valencian coast. Low renewal zones more susceptible to these phenomena.
