Playa Calas de Rocamar is a natural sandy beach located in Pilar de la Horadada, Alicante, Spain. The beach has an open cove configuration with natural rock breakwaters on its northern and southern zones. It measures 272 metres along the high tide line with an average width of 15 metres. The beach is bounded to the north by Playa Mil Palmeras and to the south by Playa Higuericas.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent for the 2023 monitoring period. Monitoring point PM1 located at beach centre. No direct discharge to the coastline affects water quality. Short-duration contamination factors (E. coli and intestinal enterococci) have low frequency and mild impact. Industrial installations, port facilities, and diffuse pollution have low frequency and mild impact.

Risks

Potential short-term contamination from rainfall has low frequency and mild impact. No cyanobacteria episodes detected in the Valencian Community coastline. Jellyfish proliferation is a natural phenomenon more likely in areas with low water renewal.
