Higuericas beach is located in Pilar de la Horadada municipality in Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain. The beach has a longitudinal open configuration with a wooden promenade behind the dune zone and no coastal defence structures. It is bordered to the north by Las Villas beach and to the south by El Mojón beach. The beach comprises rock and sand composition with an average width of 52 metres.

Water

Coastal marine water body belonging to the Segura River Basin hydrographic district. Coastal water category, typology 6. Microtidal regime with currents flowing south to north. Low-accumulation coastline. Annual precipitation in the surrounding area is 246 mm with wettest month in April and driest in July.

Water Quality

Water body status is good. Water quality classification shows excellent ratings. The coastal water mass is managed under Water Framework Directive 2000/60/CE and bathing water quality regulations (Royal Decree 1341/2007). Weekly inspections evaluate visual parameters, water appearance, and sand cleanliness during bathing season.

Risks

Low frequency and minor impact from rainfall, urban wastewater systems, coastal discharges, rivers/channels, industrial installations, port installations, and diffuse pollution. No direct coastal discharges affecting beach water quality. No cyanobacteria proliferation detected in the Valencian coastal area. Phytoplankton and jellyfish proliferation are natural phenomena associated with coastal geomorphology and climate conditions.
