Playa San Ginés is a natural bathing beach in Cartagena located in the Mediterranean coastal zone. The beach is 800 metres long with an average width of 25 metres and comprises golden sand over a gravel and sand substrate. It experiences medium occupancy with local users and daily recreational use, accommodating approximately 8800 maximum bathers. The water renewal rate is less than seven days, and the beach has a promenade.

Facilities

3 showers, 10 foot-washing stations, children's play area. No toilets or changing rooms. Showers and foot-washing stations discharge directly onto the sand.

Water Quality

Water quality was classified as excellent from 2000 to 2009 and in 2010-2011. No significant pollution pressure identified. The water body is classified as being in good ecological status according to Hydrological Planning standards.

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton proliferation is a natural phenomenon that rarely affects public health; sampling in 2008 and 2009 showed practically no presence of potentially toxic cells. Risk level: null or very low. Jellyfish appear seasonally with peak abundance from early spring to late summer; jellyfish production is highly variable.
