Torrecilla is a natural Mediterranean coastal bathing beach in Nerja, Málaga, spanning 285 metres in length with an average width of 40 metres. The beach features dark sand composition and moderately exposed conditions with moderate wave action. It is highly occupied and fully urbanized with a promenade and walkways. The beach has been classified as excellent for water quality throughout the monitored period of 2013 to 2016.

Water

Mediterranean coastal waters. Deep waters with mud and sand substrate. Micromareal tidal range of 0–2 metres. Current regime is dominant towards the northeast. Wave exposure is moderate with dominant waves from the east and east-southeast associated with Levante wind.

Location

Nerja, Málaga province, Andalucía. The beach is easily accessible on foot and includes disabled access. A maritime promenade and walkways are present. The nearest sports port is La Caleta del Este.

Lifeguard service available. Showers and bins provided. Cleaning service in operation. Disabled access available. Walkways present. Sailing rental available. No Red Cross post. No maritime club. No signage indicated.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent for all seasons monitored (2013–2016). Short-duration microbiological contamination risk is assessed as low. Sources of contamination include diffuse land use impacts from built and altered surfaces, and a point source from Torrecilla C. Bombeo (MA012), which is treated urban wastewater.
