The Municipal Beach of Chrysochous is an extensive sandy beach located east of Latsi harbour. The beach is easily accessible via the coastal road and features dining and recreational facilities. Ornamental vegetation and palm trees grow on the beach. The natural shoreline has a sandy seabed. The beach is designated with the Blue Flag status.

Water

Southern Chrysochous Bay (CY_4-C2). Beach length 580 metres. Average water depth 2 metres. Maximum water depth 3.5 metres. The nearshore zone has a natural sandy seabed with sandy grain composition.

Location

Located in Chrysochous, Paphos district, Cyprus. The beach is positioned east of Latsi harbour and access is direct via the coastal road of Chrysochous.

Facilities

Public facilities are available. Waste collection bins are present along the entire beach maintained by the Municipality. Summer services include sunbeds and umbrellas. Lifeguards and rescue equipment are provided from 11:00 to 17:30. The beach holds Blue Flag designation.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data. The associated coastal body is in good ecological status. Monitoring has been conducted for many years, with formal reporting beginning in 2004 following Cyprus's EU membership. The bathing water is related to the internal surface water body CY_2-1-7_R1.

Risks

Moderate risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton development based on identified pollution sources. Possible pollution sources include intensive agricultural runoff, septic tank systems from coastal developments, and passing vessels from Latsi harbour. No short-term pollution incidents were recorded during swimming periods 2008–2010.
